The Practice Jack Stromgren Purchased in 2014
Before becoming a practice owner, Jack Stromgren completed his DDS at the University of California, San Francisco and a general practice residency at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. He then spent eight years working as an associate dentist in a high-volume Sunnyvale office.
That experience preceded his purchase of the Willow Glen practice in 2014. The office had approximately 1,100 active patients and four operatories at the time.
Moving from an associate position to ownership added operational responsibilities to Jack Stromgren’s clinical work. In addition to treating patients, he became responsible for the direction, capacity, and long-term development of the practice.
The Lincoln Avenue location provided continuity during that transition. The practice has remained at the same address while its patient population and clinical scope have expanded.
Growth From Four Operatories to Five
Jack Stromgren’s Willow Glen practice now serves more than 3,000 active patients across five operatories. The physical expansion reflects the increase in the number of patients receiving care at the office.
An associate dentist joined Stromgren Family Dentistry in 2022. Adding another provider expanded the practice’s capacity while allowing it to remain independently owned and based in Willow Glen.
The development from 1,100 to more than 3,000 active patients did not occur as a single change. It took place over more than a decade of practice ownership, patient care, and community involvement.
Restorative and Implant Dentistry
Jack Stromgren has made restorative and implant dentistry a central part of his clinical work. His restorative background began before he purchased the practice, including eight years of experience as an associate dentist.
Restorative dentistry concerns the repair or replacement of damaged and missing teeth. Treatment planning may involve evaluating the condition of an individual tooth, the surrounding oral structures, and the functional demands placed on the proposed restoration.
Jack Stromgren developed the implant component of the practice through several years of continuing education. Implant dentistry was added gradually as he completed training and established protocols for cases that could be treated appropriately within the general practice setting.
These capabilities allow restorative and implant care to be considered within the patient’s broader dental history. Cases that fall outside the established scope of the practice can be referred when additional expertise or treatment is required.

A physician or qualified sleep specialist is responsible for diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea and directing the patient’s medical care. The dentist evaluates the oral structures, provides and adjusts the prescribed appliance, and monitors its dental effects.
Follow-up remains an important part of the process. The appliance may require adjustments, while the treating physician may recommend additional evaluation to determine whether the patient’s condition is being adequately managed.
Providing this service within a general dentistry practice allows oral appliance care to be coordinated with the ongoing evaluation of the patient’s teeth, bite, jaw, and overall oral health.
Care for Patients With Dental Anxiety
Care for patients with severe dental anxiety is another documented concentration at Stromgren Family Dentistry. Some patients referred to the practice have avoided the dental chair for years because of fear or earlier negative experiences.
Patients returning after a prolonged absence may have both emotional concerns and restorative needs. Addressing one without acknowledging the other can make it difficult to establish a workable treatment plan.

Stromgren Family Dentistry’s connection to Willow Glen includes activities outside its regular patient appointments. Jack Stromgren has hosted a Free Dental Day each November since 2016, providing no-cost care to community members who lack regular access to dentistry.
He also serves on the board of the Willow Glen Free Clinic. His other community involvement has included a school sealant program serving elementary schools on San José’s east side, four seasons as a youth soccer coach, and sponsorship of a local Little League team.
These commitments developed alongside the practice’s growth. They place Jack Stromgren’s clinical work within a broader record of participation in Willow Glen and Santa Clara County.
The Practice Today
More than a decade after Jack Stromgren purchased the office, Stromgren Family Dentistry remains at its Lincoln Avenue location. The practice now has five operatories, more than 3,000 active patients, and an associate dentist who joined in 2022.
Its clinical work centers on general dentistry, with particular attention to restorative and implant care, oral appliance therapy, and patients with dental anxiety. Those areas reflect Jack Stromgren’s education, residency training, associate experience, and continuing education.
The practice’s current structure is the result of development over time rather than a departure from its neighborhood identity. It has grown in size and scope while maintaining the Willow Glen location from which Jack Stromgren has operated it since 2014.
